THE BAS LEXTER ENSAMPLE / AND THE BEAT GOES ON
(Album Online Release / 2010 / Deja-Tunes / GER)

Direction: Soul & Funk, Broken Beat, Contemporary Jazz

Bas himself has the Jazz, loves the Big Band feeling, is sometimes funky, sometimes Caribbean, most times black and sometimes white, but always aware of keeping his ‘old school’ flavour. After his successful debutalbum ‘Truncate it Right”, that amazed Djs, Collegues and critics from Germany, Spain up to Japan, now  the 2nd album follows: ‘And the Beat goes on”. This album is especially  dedicated to the cinematic themes and those of the 50ies, even though it stays in the typical rare and floor compatible Lexter-shape. Starting with ‘The Revival’ the records is making you snip to it. You’ll hardly be able to stop smiling when it’s later followed by the Japanese vocal adaption ‘Nipponside Winder’. ‘Jazzy, warm and groovy’,  that’s the way ‘Beleza’ and ‘Do Right’ are completing the picture. In the last 3rd of the record you will flow into calm fileds with tracks ‘Light’ or ‘Glass Manouvre’ - a beautiful orchestral-weighed tune. Of course, the album finishes with ‘Goodbye’ that will remind you a little of ‘Moby’.

It is not easy to name or to categorize a sound. “The Bas Lexter Ensample” has a unique style for sure, an unbelievable setup of samples and vinylistic atmospheres, being touched by and mixed up with a lot of different kinds of styles and genres. Bas Lexter was dis-covered by Nokia France and his tunes were released on different 12” vinyls (Resense/Yo Mama/Universal). Beyond that, he produced for Ganesha & Ragga D, and for Asher D. / Music of Life.
